Do you ever notice that when seasons start to change, stores become so bare and uninteresting? It makes it so easy to get into a rut. On the other hand, do you ever realize that maybe you are just looking in the wrong places?<br />
<br />
Growing up is a really funny thing. It's funny to look back and laugh at the past. But I think the best part is living in the moment and realizing what the hell is going on. My style is completely changing, which is really confusing, but at the same time it's really just <em>funny</em>. I picked out a dresser for our "master bedroom" yesterday that I never thought in a million years I would like:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIepKEp1tbKmEQe9Ig0zm865YDTa2Q_4kxpZEdNythDwd1CLHRWwnBuROqWz7bLydtCzqM5Le-Z2KFl-sfllqbbMOmuecMI7-RYKO7mbQSfarMZyNcZMKZSawz8fGp25t_LuaMXdSeUdKD/s1600/img38o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="576" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIepKEp1tbKmEQe9Ig0zm865YDTa2Q_4kxpZEdNythDwd1CLHRWwnBuROqWz7bLydtCzqM5Le-Z2KFl-sfllqbbMOmuecMI7-RYKO7mbQSfarMZyNcZMKZSawz8fGp25t_LuaMXdSeUdKD/s640/img38o.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Yup. It's large and dark and 6 months ago I would have hated it. And now, I <em>love</em> it. It's something I can grow with. Weird right? This whole growing up thing.. it's weird.. But anyway. when it comes to buying furniture I've realized you can't settle for the cheap stuff. It falls apart and to be completely honest, in a few months it looks, well, cheap. What you also need to think about when buying expensive furniture, is that expensive piece growing with your life. You don't want to buy something like this expensive dresser above (which by the way is from Pottery Barn and can be found <a href="http://www.potterybarn.com/products/hudson-extra-wide-dresser/?pkey=cdressers">here</a>) and then move into a new house with more space and have to buy something completely different. We're in a stage now where we can't fit an entire set in one room. This is a piece that, hopefully, when we move we can buy the rest of the set. Who knows if they will still have the exact set, but I have faith that Pottery Barn will still have something of a similiar color/style. And matched up with our new bedding it will look fab (which should be here any day!):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivs3PqoYW7RnaKlbzaxN9qSlpI4lqLZNpcY6Q8qEadtHQD2R9jR0Wo37YfVI2KQjHjzgTTfScpCpquMzn2bPy-wZ2-OX1Nn_2cbCHQF0VEpwYOlftCO9YzcT5_rXX2U-ygjdQIg3JrBQ_g/s1600/img28o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivs3PqoYW7RnaKlbzaxN9qSlpI4lqLZNpcY6Q8qEadtHQD2R9jR0Wo37YfVI2KQjHjzgTTfScpCpquMzn2bPy-wZ2-OX1Nn_2cbCHQF0VEpwYOlftCO9YzcT5_rXX2U-ygjdQIg3JrBQ_g/s640/img28o.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>See, change can be fun! We may need to make bigger purchases that are not so fun as we get older but paired with the right accessories anything can be great.<br />
<br />
So, what do I have in store for you in the next few months? Well, a long overdue Mudroom Reveal (yes, finally), a Living Room reveal (yes, finally again) some Bathroom Inspiration, some Kitchen Inspiration & I am even going to throw in a Guest Post. And we can't forget about the holidays! Because I love decorating for the holidays, best time of year by far! Stay Tuned!.....<br />

My mom showed me a huge folder filled with cut outs from when they bought their current house. She would read magazine after magazine and tear out "ideas" and file them in a folder. I was laughing because this is something you would never see now. Now it's all about technology, a ton of magazines are electronic and rather than searching through magazines for ideas, we search through Internet sites. I had to agree with her about one thing, there is nothing like flipping through a good magazine, no Nook, Kindle, iPad or other tablet can compete with that!<br />
<br />
After I left their house I got to thinking about technology. We have so many options out there and I haven't even explored them! Sure I read blogs, but that's really the extent of it; I'm not old by any means but the technology these days is almost <em>scary</em>. (Yes, I work in technology sales, ha go figure!)<br />
<br />
With that said, I decided to take my first step toward becoming more "technologically inclined". No, I didn't join Twitter, I'm not sure I will ever be able to get there! :) I requested a membership to <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/"><strong>Pinterest.</strong></a> And about 5 minutes after I requested the membership I had an invite in my mailbox (E-mailbox that is!)<br />
<br />
I didn't know what I was missing!! I can't quite tell you how to use Pinterest but I can tell you it is filled, <em>filled</em> with inspiration! Within in minutes I got totally distracted with a "pin" to<strong> </strong><a href="http://urbanbarn.com/the-make-room"><strong>The Urban Barn.</strong></a> This is one of the coolest sites I've ever seen and I can't believe it exists AND it's free!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiWisuDplPleVreY4hsLXF4rXsAJFX2u_V1XuAdGWyhemBQ7Bxt7yHHlVl_BAQvf-D-6ScJ1ImbqA17bVMIW13yxjL7k2BSkCKBhfS8clXEUtipZnoed1_32_txPzkrzBeIVGi7LvJvW2s/s1600/urbanbarn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="352" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiWisuDplPleVreY4hsLXF4rXsAJFX2u_V1XuAdGWyhemBQ7Bxt7yHHlVl_BAQvf-D-6ScJ1ImbqA17bVMIW13yxjL7k2BSkCKBhfS8clXEUtipZnoed1_32_txPzkrzBeIVGi7LvJvW2s/s640/urbanbarn.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>This tool allows you to design your own room. Again, I just found this today so I don't know all of the functionality included. What I do know is that I was able to recreate our living/dining room area with the correct dimensions to make sure everything I've been buying fits in the room!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1RNtFQLZifDcOoK2E03ztNEAmFz7CSxssv3DeyeKuMmd-fFojj5_KpJ4a88IQdHqOXDNSfRqJiOzJQf5NOENxUkSJyX5TE9yt1u5GWy1IXLvh19yTgqdTzIHLNf2DXpD5acsU0128jWVo/s1600/living-dining+room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1RNtFQLZifDcOoK2E03ztNEAmFz7CSxssv3DeyeKuMmd-fFojj5_KpJ4a88IQdHqOXDNSfRqJiOzJQf5NOENxUkSJyX5TE9yt1u5GWy1IXLvh19yTgqdTzIHLNf2DXpD5acsU0128jWVo/s400/living-dining+room.jpg" width="286" /></a></div>Awesome, I am beyond excited! I was thrilled! We immediately dove into the details. What color does she want? A solid or a print? What material? Will we do gold nailhead trim or silver? The list went on. Finally we came to the conclusion that the only things she really wants to keep in her current bedroom is her rug and her white dresser and it really just needs to match that. So I asked her to send me a photo of the rug and I made her an inspiration board.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She's a young working girl living with 2 roommates in a New York City apartment. Her rug is very beachy so I thought I would make her a very light, clean design; a pleasant escape from her busy city life.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1IzLvCMkCDOoBpqUmgPWjHp3bB8b7k5a8EduOsAyQ53l0J1rMVf8OMif0JDHJb6xVVcqhUWuAp0vVHHdKJjrGr83JLto3o7JQhxsCrRIv65SlQTtBdb5vSIzITS8SS1h8rHpI6KR6m-Jl/s1600/D%2527Arcy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1IzLvCMkCDOoBpqUmgPWjHp3bB8b7k5a8EduOsAyQ53l0J1rMVf8OMif0JDHJb6xVVcqhUWuAp0vVHHdKJjrGr83JLto3o7JQhxsCrRIv65SlQTtBdb5vSIzITS8SS1h8rHpI6KR6m-Jl/s640/D%2527Arcy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I will be using a cotton/linen blend to make her headboard along with Pewter Nailhead trim. The rest of the Inspiration Board is just that, inspiration! Some of the things she will be purchasing but others we will try to find at the best price possible. I will hopefully share a before and after once the room is complete!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I came up with an inspiration board a few months ago for our living room. I was really proud of it; the pillows were bright, the furniture was functional, and it really suited our style. After our couch shopping expedition, (which you can find <a href="http://dancingstilettos.blogspot.com/2011/07/couch-shopping.html">here</a> along with my "old" inspiration board) I quickly realized I needed to go back to the drawing board and whip up something different.<br />
<br />
Since currently we have a rather dark setup with darker couches and furniture, I decided that I wanted something lighter. Something functional and comfortable, yet classy and beautiful at the same time. I think one of the biggest mistakes people make is that they go for comfort and lose sight of what really looks good. Here's what I came up with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo7zIHc9fUMo_x1SrVilLfdH07Wjj3-HcAQYwkKoXjqhYhdNOKaRZooNer1YPMnL3qtvWb2AvXrvcUeS7glNhq4alMw-BmBO-qIGUAFysYF-rJJmdBjgN9SjM5e-Lo6_eVAT-AOJ1MMeR5/s1600/living+room+inspiration+board+final.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo7zIHc9fUMo_x1SrVilLfdH07Wjj3-HcAQYwkKoXjqhYhdNOKaRZooNer1YPMnL3qtvWb2AvXrvcUeS7glNhq4alMw-BmBO-qIGUAFysYF-rJJmdBjgN9SjM5e-Lo6_eVAT-AOJ1MMeR5/s640/living+room+inspiration+board+final.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
I'm going for simplicity. I can't stand clutter, I want this room to be easy breezy and inviting. I purchased the two tables instead of a coffee table from Chiasso.com. They were on sale for $38 each and I found a 10% off coupon, plus free shipping, whoop! They haven't arrived yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but the reviews were amazing. The body is stainless steel and the tray, which is actually detachable, is a smoky acrylic. I want the rug to be the main point of interest so I was originally looking for 2 small glass tables. To the eye, a glass table makes it appear as if nothing is there, making the room look larger. These acrylic tables are even better because glass gives the "fragile" vibe which I am not going for at all.<br />
<br />
Speaking of that rug; I wandered over to Target on Friday during lunch and discovered it on sale for $103; that's right! I scooped that baby up so quick! Well, as fast as my 5 foot tall self could :) It's 5x8 and perfect for our living room.<br />
<br />
I also picked up this perfectly large basket on my target trip:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDgkfNBMfHJ7lEQMNESB95ewhZ-L1IF7JOuVc6BHfoN-ww6IfOdC_MHtsO3ToSRqkhxmpLZFPfXvxVObAiDOvNMXgBTc8xJBniDYov4ERH-EdhIFzlFNlegRUr5warxVYORSxg4m32mKqR/s1600/smithhawken+basket.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDgkfNBMfHJ7lEQMNESB95ewhZ-L1IF7JOuVc6BHfoN-ww6IfOdC_MHtsO3ToSRqkhxmpLZFPfXvxVObAiDOvNMXgBTc8xJBniDYov4ERH-EdhIFzlFNlegRUr5warxVYORSxg4m32mKqR/s320/smithhawken+basket.png" width="312" /></a></div>I love how it has chalkboards on the sides! This was a bit of a splurge but I figured it was between this large basket and a small piece of furniture to store the electronics you can currently find piled up in the corner. The $39.99 was worth it, believe me. :) <br />
<br />
Now if only we could decide on a paint color...<br />

Let's talk comfort. Remember when you were a kid and had that oh so comfortable bean bag chair? They were awesome. Hideous, but awesome none the less. (Okay, not hideous, I just so happened to love mine, but they weren't the most appealing)</div><br />
I am happy to say they are back, and in a much more chic way. When first looking for decor for our "new" living room I came across this one from Ballard Designs:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmfPk74756mYbkIduHWvyExhLoF5d7lyUNZvyhyEQLt8vIqUYNdy0XE38IlMvT4YiO_uOGwgRN0E7o79QxYy8a6Z8LdxZ6xXCl89GAtre5iNhzPN_uAqNnGSLfmFotcw_QDGdXc36i6uR_/s1600/le+pouf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmfPk74756mYbkIduHWvyExhLoF5d7lyUNZvyhyEQLt8vIqUYNdy0XE38IlMvT4YiO_uOGwgRN0E7o79QxYy8a6Z8LdxZ6xXCl89GAtre5iNhzPN_uAqNnGSLfmFotcw_QDGdXc36i6uR_/s1600/le+pouf.jpg" /></a></div>Le Pouf they call it; it even has a chic name! It was love at first sight really. It took me back to my little bean bag chair with my name embroidered on it (yup, that's right), granted mine was pink and possibly striped, I can't quite seem to recall ;) There is something about Le Pouf that speaks to me. It looks comfortable, fits in our living room, is quite functional since you can put a tray on top and use it as a table as well as an ottoman or a chair.<br />
<br />
Why haven't I bought it yet? Well, I keep asking myself the same thing. The price is killing me. It was originally $229; it is currently on sale for $179 and I have a coupon. BUT, even with my 10% coupon it is still expensive. Since it's large they add an additional $20 onto the already $20 shipping fee making the total with tax just over $200. I keep trying to justify this; it's functional and adorable, but I just can't do it. What if I have to return it? I'll have lost $80 in shipping fees (them shipping to me then me shipping it back).<br />
<br />
On a search I went and oh what I found:<br />

Everything looks the same, nothing is original and the walls end up staying bare forever. I am happy to say the era of bare walls is coming to an end, and I am so excited (I just can't hide itttt)! <br />
<br />
I came across Rodney White's prints quite some time ago and fell instantly in love. My sister actually has a huge print of his hanging over her kitchen table and it's absolutely fabulous. I immediately came to the conclusion that it was so awesome that I wouldn't be able to afford it. Sadness. I erased Rodney White from my memory and never looked back.<br />
<br />
Until now that is! As you know, we are completely redecorating our living room. We are literally starting from scratch so I decided to overcome my fear of art and find something perfect. At first I thought a movie theme would be great. I mean, let's be serious, I know you don't ever see television's and technology in Better Homes and Gardens and Elle Decor magazines, but it exists, and it really is the center of attention for any common space. (Nothing against Better Homes and Elle Decor, I literally drool over their magazines on a daily basis!) That being said, I thought movie reels across the wall would be so original:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk2ulO0faWDBGX1AIH2WCzNjRtu6kmQKIr2dPCbaVm1px-J7WHx-jL0Q2qUM8bz6ExSiYTnKxWPAD-4jam-6Xzl6qq7seJBdTE25vmk3Fm9wyQ-BrIkz_LUY_ni8Lp_ue7SCMilvzIMgGT/s1600/film+reel1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk2ulO0faWDBGX1AIH2WCzNjRtu6kmQKIr2dPCbaVm1px-J7WHx-jL0Q2qUM8bz6ExSiYTnKxWPAD-4jam-6Xzl6qq7seJBdTE25vmk3Fm9wyQ-BrIkz_LUY_ni8Lp_ue7SCMilvzIMgGT/s1600/film+reel1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicKkJ4Dy8XfvWd4wfub_PeSeSTc4PxZmvjLW9QCfGwYk6zyZnMGhJExA8vl12fZ4Xozm5c2iNoGEdM_4PaKvywOVWWa2Tvn6tO5Gq3cKaDePnVxqDiarjZC-8nh6lyIXypFZj7UxSlbGMJ/s1600/film+reel2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicKkJ4Dy8XfvWd4wfub_PeSeSTc4PxZmvjLW9QCfGwYk6zyZnMGhJExA8vl12fZ4Xozm5c2iNoGEdM_4PaKvywOVWWa2Tvn6tO5Gq3cKaDePnVxqDiarjZC-8nh6lyIXypFZj7UxSlbGMJ/s1600/film+reel2.jpg" /></a></div>Awesome right? And at a price of $49.95 for the larger one and $39.95 for the smaller one AND a 20% off coupon I got in the mail, I figured I couldn't beat it. $72 for all the art for our tiny living room.<br />
<br />
I thought it was <em>so original</em>.. until we went couch shopping and every store I went to had them hanging on the wall! Granted they were about 5 times the price there, I was still a little bummed. I figured I would keep them in mind and if I couldn't find anything else I would buy them.<br />
<br />
I continued on my search for something perfect. Over the past year there has been so much "stuff" I have tried to put in that room and nothing felt right, I refuse to buy things that I don't love just to fill a space. My search is finally over. I realized that Rodney White's prints come in poster form (this entire time I thought they were really expesnive canvas prints!) Here are a few prints of Rodney White's that I am totally loving: <br />

I just adore the wording and the colors, they are amazing. They come in many different sizes which obviously changes the price. I am purchasing them from allposters.com (25% off coupon code is TAKE25 if you're interested!) and then getting them framed, which will hopefully not cost an arm and a leg. I can't wait to share the final look!<br />

That's right. We got home around 2 o'clock in the morning and were deliriously checking the mail when we came across a Mealey's Furniture mailer. Typically this is something we would just throw in the trash immediately but this time was different. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq_ztd8xdqbldM4Z49Ne6ZyOVsI44bFLh3SxfCogcL8mLzf_E3FNRQRudsWWPbFQfx9JM8FzR6WNSSrxt_3mRTaHU47G3DKHwS9CgK7Pg0ZF51bYQmmeTco7-4x7EhnakNvgthLQYn84Q4/s1600/mealeys+coupon.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq_ztd8xdqbldM4Z49Ne6ZyOVsI44bFLh3SxfCogcL8mLzf_E3FNRQRudsWWPbFQfx9JM8FzR6WNSSrxt_3mRTaHU47G3DKHwS9CgK7Pg0ZF51bYQmmeTco7-4x7EhnakNvgthLQYn84Q4/s640/mealeys+coupon.png" width="640" /></a></div><br />
A scratch off!? I'm so in.. to our liking, we scored a 42% discount. Picture myself jumping for joy at 2 o'clock in the morning. HA.<br />
<br />
The next day we went to Mealey's super excited. (well at least I was super excited!) On a mission to find the perfect couch at the perfect price. I had already made an inspiration board for our newly designed living room so I knew exactly what I was looking for:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnlS0QG-1fjbWDtJ_qn_27xadCCYI2blF8mECoa6_23nwUhg8YcTypIda1UoDz91iFguP-xsnIcO9bAS601IC5g3JhRbKgCN9dYgx4bHWpen_qH5Tc7lpfxdMi1L82qO1Lzedl3ddVKbq5/s1600/living+room+inspiration+board.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnlS0QG-1fjbWDtJ_qn_27xadCCYI2blF8mECoa6_23nwUhg8YcTypIda1UoDz91iFguP-xsnIcO9bAS601IC5g3JhRbKgCN9dYgx4bHWpen_qH5Tc7lpfxdMi1L82qO1Lzedl3ddVKbq5/s640/living+room+inspiration+board.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
Within 10 minutes of being in the store I knew this was going to be harder than I thought. (and realized we weren't so special when they didn't ask to see our coupon and offered up the 42% discount without hesitation) After hours of contemplating a design for our small room (staring at the most perfect couch) and remembering our budget, we left empty handed. And back to the drawing board I went. The next day while the bf was at work I went to 4 other furniture stores. That's right, F-O-U-R. And I found nothing. So disappointing. Nothing was comfortable, everything had to be special ordered for an additional $300 at least, I was at a total loss. I went home and put on my best "I'm sad take me back to Mealey's" face. We had to make a decision, keep our way-too-big-for-our-house couch or go back to the one we loved and beg and plead for a larger discount. Mealey's it was :)<br />
<br />
We ended up purchasing 2 pieces, a light taupe sofa with a chaise (which is much smaller than our current 9 foot monster couch) and an oversized leather chair.<br />
<br />
Just a peak at our living room now:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXCHroW-LNFHUD3qEC-hgcqn3mPUZ9nx_Y2KdktOl5-DNSMY0jZCHs3psU1kT_MMF7jvJQ0D6lp57H-edggToTtAAf_JeOq8id2D_2lkOjhH0m2i77wmron01JDIJ7Z7eEAXgiRLQBW5Ix/s1600/living+room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXCHroW-LNFHUD3qEC-hgcqn3mPUZ9nx_Y2KdktOl5-DNSMY0jZCHs3psU1kT_MMF7jvJQ0D6lp57H-edggToTtAAf_JeOq8id2D_2lkOjhH0m2i77wmron01JDIJ7Z7eEAXgiRLQBW5Ix/s640/living+room.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
This picture was taken 1 year ago, since then I've added new pillows and put art on the wall to try to brighten the room and nothing really worked. It's so ... dark. Hence the new <em>smaller</em> couch in a lighter color. This room is really tough and is proving to be even more difficult as I try to redecorate it. The wall to the left is a working fireplace which we use quite often so the tv can't be placed there and the couch definitely can't sit against it. And as you can see, there's no wall where I am standing taking the picture and there's no wall to the right.<br />
<br />
Here's what I'm working with now:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihE2qObI-2K88WuanBt1stL63jT4MTD4TCn362y35S0W5ShSYNY0oM_OztD-cCYbC75HBpgv940tk82R_fP9z8ATDYLmuzbNaKKZKMHQ17c514h2aQe-UKaIrGHQhpMt3cYBe54dzEfXXu/s1600/couch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="136" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihE2qObI-2K88WuanBt1stL63jT4MTD4TCn362y35S0W5ShSYNY0oM_OztD-cCYbC75HBpgv940tk82R_fP9z8ATDYLmuzbNaKKZKMHQ17c514h2aQe-UKaIrGHQhpMt3cYBe54dzEfXXu/s320/couch.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

I have 8 weeks until it will be delivered, which means 8 weeks to get that wall painted, and find some new decor. I'm thinking "cozy chic" if you will, I can't wait to share my finds with you!<br />

Here are a few things that I am loving right now:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZL17uyAnzBEtQYfG4JyAMh_p5Rb8GRD-GiLK7u61TOgrmFmoDzs7jwlRA7a0NjWdUFCzh0cSDCvOO6U0jA49L_H71qXkZXP_WBZvQQzE-vCP6vu4bhaYLKL_nxpJMfQ27iqlKcCYTC9ru/s1600/vintage+fan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="497" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZL17uyAnzBEtQYfG4JyAMh_p5Rb8GRD-GiLK7u61TOgrmFmoDzs7jwlRA7a0NjWdUFCzh0cSDCvOO6U0jA49L_H71qXkZXP_WBZvQQzE-vCP6vu4bhaYLKL_nxpJMfQ27iqlKcCYTC9ru/s640/vintage+fan.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Vintage Fans are a great way to cool down a room in style. But a pile of fruit looks glorious on this Kitchen Scale! And the price tag is nice too at $33.89 from CSNStores.com, you can find this <a href="http://www.csnstores.com/Polder-Professional-Scale-985-75-UZ1078.html">here.</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

The way they open up a small room is amazing. I've been eyeing this mirror from ZGallerie (found <a href="http://www.zgallerie.com/p-2041-devon-mirror.aspx">here</a>) for months now. I initially wanted it in white and then slowly decided that this color was best. Unfortunately this mirror is $199 plus shipping; enough said. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Last weekend I decided to run over to HomeGoods just to see what they had and ohhh there is a reason I <em>love</em> HomeGoods! When I say they had the exact mirror I mean they had the <em>EXACT</em> mirror. I picked up that bad boy so quickly and ran to the register, as fast as one could run holding a huge 25 pound mirror of course, and bought it immediately. It was only $69, woohoo! I'll have to share a picture of the room with you as soon as I get it hung on the wall, it totally gives the room a bohemian chic vibe. Pictures are so decieving, this mirror is giant and I definitely cannot hang it by myself!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">What makes you jump for joy in the middle of a store?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I was hard at work all weekend and the mudroom is starting to look great! <br />
<br />
As seen in <a href="http://dancingstilettos.blogspot.com/2011/06/mudroom-overhaul.html">this</a> post, the walls started out blue. I first had to paint the walls with a white base coat. I used Behr Premium Plus Ultra Paint + Primer in One in the color Ultra Pure White. For both paint colors I used an eggshell finish so the walls aren't glossy but they aren't flat leaving hand prints etc, and the walls can still be wiped if need be. I figured it would take 1 coat to get rid of the Blue color since it was a pale blue. And I was <em>so</em> <em>wrong</em>. It took 3 coats and really could have used a 4th but I was way too excited for my stripes!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBeJzE10BorXdbpZIQOLNnQvqIAL5y6bMpcg0zAhzHaxKnSvCIfUdvhKuM8_Iqja8Ew-dmdUlAwexWIDp-pSSMnHLgaAKo4-ohGnk9BdLZnhGsYg2r9HCGrZBUUyvGE6Y8OVpaA0Sx7gDO/s1600/DSC_0265.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBeJzE10BorXdbpZIQOLNnQvqIAL5y6bMpcg0zAhzHaxKnSvCIfUdvhKuM8_Iqja8Ew-dmdUlAwexWIDp-pSSMnHLgaAKo4-ohGnk9BdLZnhGsYg2r9HCGrZBUUyvGE6Y8OVpaA0Sx7gDO/s640/DSC_0265.JPG" width="424" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is the best picture I took of the white. After 3 coats I let that dry for about a day. Then came the taping. This was probably the most frustrating/time-consuming part of this project. Just like the floor isn't level, either are the walls! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Before taping you first need to measure your wall and decide how many stripes you want. I decided I wanted the top stripe and the bottom stripe to be white so I didn't have to tape off the ceiling and floor. The total height of the room is 82 inches and I wanted 4 tan stripes + 5 white stripes totalling 9 stripes. 82 inches divided by 9 stripes is 9.11 inches per stripe. I used Frogtape from Home Depot to tape off my stripes as this is specifically for a project like this so the paint won't seep under the tape, therefore leaving clean lines. If you don't have tape like this I would recommend first painting over your tape with your first color, in my case white. Or painting over it with a clear coat.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VxD0D_hXtGjUmG2zhWdMrsp6i2jD6rRmDNvw10GBnilNTrrALWZRIcubmNfgUCLmrglruY7HgncuiPyjKuScf6EwoZ7ue6g_CgzICSWgDaaYvKPyrD7aIqm7pEG4LWbfo-OlRf80UoO4/s1600/DSC_0307.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VxD0D_hXtGjUmG2zhWdMrsp6i2jD6rRmDNvw10GBnilNTrrALWZRIcubmNfgUCLmrglruY7HgncuiPyjKuScf6EwoZ7ue6g_CgzICSWgDaaYvKPyrD7aIqm7pEG4LWbfo-OlRf80UoO4/s400/DSC_0307.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>Your walls should look something like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiArvZgVPa5eCyD5C4hmPnN3AXDL42wFhz3KuKzXDv7VyRBAhaAdNcfRrNvLaskAqrBSjb_dkxZdJtXkJpdeOePoyoIY_IO2Usu25UvhiFgrbXRpjyUQdDqhL82MiyQoKkfwj_r6vl_xBZQ/s1600/DSC_0308.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiArvZgVPa5eCyD5C4hmPnN3AXDL42wFhz3KuKzXDv7VyRBAhaAdNcfRrNvLaskAqrBSjb_dkxZdJtXkJpdeOePoyoIY_IO2Usu25UvhiFgrbXRpjyUQdDqhL82MiyQoKkfwj_r6vl_xBZQ/s640/DSC_0308.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
The larger spaces is where I will paint the tan color, I used Behr Premium Plus Ultra Paint + Primer in One in the color Wax Sculpture. I painted two coats and then snapped a quick picture:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjMfSQbFg4AHHFqeyAwWrNh9r3gswyQ0u3qEG_UfHthXMMCR5Mrh2b5VZgGpCqcYD7ACwikMp_AFupVJYAgSRR2SW3RdpF0vMB9I3M8nhOWPluayiJwGyEHxOeh5tiINmq0YbvrDtmCKY/s1600/DSC_0311.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHjMfSQbFg4AHHFqeyAwWrNh9r3gswyQ0u3qEG_UfHthXMMCR5Mrh2b5VZgGpCqcYD7ACwikMp_AFupVJYAgSRR2SW3RdpF0vMB9I3M8nhOWPluayiJwGyEHxOeh5tiINmq0YbvrDtmCKY/s640/DSC_0311.JPG" width="425" /></a></div><br />
When you finish your last coat you need to rip of the tape immediately to insure you do not chip the paint. If you wait until it is dry it will for sure peel up. This was my result:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHnlwuy1bEK8HxHWCwCe7eZWk77m8DsBEHfEWKyOOUSKAPzfdX_-4kvk05YRVHeoufaXKfizTq85waa9LazDUedfXHNbkxcqkcvghrK53EGA6Houp1IxQb4U1NCNyIfPjZr46oZEBd3v2/s1600/DSC_0315.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMHnlwuy1bEK8HxHWCwCe7eZWk77m8DsBEHfEWKyOOUSKAPzfdX_-4kvk05YRVHeoufaXKfizTq85waa9LazDUedfXHNbkxcqkcvghrK53EGA6Houp1IxQb4U1NCNyIfPjZr46oZEBd3v2/s640/DSC_0315.JPG" width="424" /></a></div><br />
I'm in love. After a few little touch ups it looks perfect. I want to live in this little room! We even replaced the ugly 80's tile that was in the room and put in laminate flooring that looks like hardwood. (Big shout out to my wonderful brother for helping me all weekend!) Hopefully we will have the curtains, bench, shelf and hooks in this week! I can't wait to show you all the rest!<br />

Here's what you need if you want to try this for yourself:<br />
<br />
-1/2 inch piece plywood --> cut to the width of your bed and your desired height<br />
-batting<br />
-foam (I used 1/2 inch)<br />
-staple gun<br />
-adhesive spray<br />
-nailhead trim --> can be found on ebay <br />
-rubber mallet or a hammer with some sort of fabric covering it so you don't dent the trim<br />
-and, of course, fabric of your choice <br />
<br />
First things first, I went to Home Depot to get my plywood cut and Joann Fabrics to get my fabric, foam, batting and adhesive spray. Although there was a sign for Nailhead Trim on the shelf at Joann's, it was sold out and no one had a clue when it would be back in stock, so I had to order from ebay.<br />
<br />
I ironed my fabric and layed it face down across the floor. I put the batting on top of that and than sprayed the batting with Adhesive Spray and laid the 1/2 inch piece of foam on top to keep it all in place.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5uqpVpv6sXBTyZKL0uUD19FY06vCpo34bs8i3xsqx3ybhBFyeT0SI1t6a4rUkc06s351vJDO4Kv5J0P34Qha9uuvIIkFIRNOYaE7hKsJSiRBOjBWVhJWrjFzTI7khpvSMNTkNVPd85eq-/s1600/headboard+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5uqpVpv6sXBTyZKL0uUD19FY06vCpo34bs8i3xsqx3ybhBFyeT0SI1t6a4rUkc06s351vJDO4Kv5J0P34Qha9uuvIIkFIRNOYaE7hKsJSiRBOjBWVhJWrjFzTI7khpvSMNTkNVPd85eq-/s640/headboard+006.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
I then placed my piece of plywood on top of the 3 layers..<br />

You may need to cut your foam as I did in the above picture so your edges are cleaner.<br />

Make sure you pull the fabric and batting tight enough so it stays in place but not too tight that it creates bumps along the edges of your headboard.<br />

Ta-da! Now onto the Nailhead Trim...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW5oDlzP8k5O9DhIbKEciv8Bbp6ZJdE9IsNMyiwjG1F0wfxb8AGoteLDj7mV90u-7IkkZiObqYWWdg8yuNXuMT0rZoFsU8SE9fXGaSbz376S1PX8PNl0hBAZD_ZYF6uqkxP_Rg0Wk1dvAU/s1600/nailhead+trim" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgW5oDlzP8k5O9DhIbKEciv8Bbp6ZJdE9IsNMyiwjG1F0wfxb8AGoteLDj7mV90u-7IkkZiObqYWWdg8yuNXuMT0rZoFsU8SE9fXGaSbz376S1PX8PNl0hBAZD_ZYF6uqkxP_Rg0Wk1dvAU/s640/nailhead+trim" width="640" /></a></div><br />
With most Nailhead Trim's you only have to nail in every 5th nail; convenient right? Lucky me purchased this from ebay where it was misadvertised and I had to bang in every other nail. Not the end of the world, just a bit more time consuming and more difficult to keep a straight line. You can always use regular nailheads but this will take double the time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8vFonwaz1yTB-hMqwghSDec9yp0y7UjVxYCigVKZMqYP2cPa8dqIlAqMLbpIm25xGhbanjF1TDp3Vt7iCDdjVI9GiyJqiNk9jn9v0OuMpObeH8Sl5e6W5dpsJqRhbkBuX6u3UbzVEDiWI/s1600/nailhead+trim+2" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8vFonwaz1yTB-hMqwghSDec9yp0y7UjVxYCigVKZMqYP2cPa8dqIlAqMLbpIm25xGhbanjF1TDp3Vt7iCDdjVI9GiyJqiNk9jn9v0OuMpObeH8Sl5e6W5dpsJqRhbkBuX6u3UbzVEDiWI/s640/nailhead+trim+2" width="640" /></a></div><br />
See how they fit in like so? Very simple. Don't get down on yourself if you break a few nails though; I had a large pile of bent and broken nails along with a not so nice looking thumb when I decided to hammer my thumb instead of a nail by accident.. me and hammers, we don't really mix too well!<br />
<br />

There you have it! It's not perfect, but I think that's why I love it so much. It has character. Not to mention since our bed is against a window it very easily gets hot and cold based on the outdoor temperature. With our new headboard it is so much more comfortable! <br />
<br />
That's not all for today though. I couldn't resist quickly sewing together 2 more throw pillows and grabbing a fun pillow from our guestroom to spice up the big reveal:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5AG-St7dh7xcq8c0xdqoyFEKLlYxFnBlbPQLdncF8_X08f_bppShVHCJd08Jbg5ZGJ3noc9GDJo38nXJAoNdXmQsk-Ky9Ht0VzoW7rmfZwUyNSSy2zLAMA-T-1th7LGxvTVshAKQrs4KL/s1600/headboard+final.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5AG-St7dh7xcq8c0xdqoyFEKLlYxFnBlbPQLdncF8_X08f_bppShVHCJd08Jbg5ZGJ3noc9GDJo38nXJAoNdXmQsk-Ky9Ht0VzoW7rmfZwUyNSSy2zLAMA-T-1th7LGxvTVshAKQrs4KL/s640/headboard+final.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
The blue fabric I bought on sale at fabric.com for $15 per yard, it's Dwell Studio and can be found <a href="http://www.fabric.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=04ed1f4e-1ce8-4ae8-bc78-18f050e576d9">here</a>. You guessed right, that's $15 for two pillows! Beat that deal!<br />
<br />
And when I say I quickly sewed these pillows I mean ordered fabric, which was delivered within a couple of days, pulled apart two old throw pillows, used their filler and sewed these bad boys within 30 minutes! <br />
<br />
Those curtains you ask? Well, you didn't ask but I will share with you anyway :) They are made out of $8 painters dropcloth.. that's right.. and they are actually "no-sew" curtains because at the time I had no clue how to use a sewing machine! I'll write a post about them one of these days..<br />
<br />

Our new headboard looks awesome, which I will be sharing with you all on Wednesday. We completely ripped apart our mudroom this weekend, discussed/browsed Home Depot for new flooring for the house, talked about re-decorating our living room, the list goes on! Instead of getting overwhelmed I decided to take it as it comes, because nothing <em>ever</em> goes as planned.. not in our house at least!<br />
<br />
The first project I decided we would tackle is our mudroom. Being the smallest and most unfinished room in the house, I figured it would be the quickest and easiest considering it was basically a clean slate. Here is what we started with:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb7oWqPDJOOohKlWIRRaUt85cyI6ndohyphenhyphenoXAx1Y6rQDOA8xN2fPm6fyBys58FbbzpE65h8R_8Qr05bYRAxK_-KQO9wOsHiwhynBvQWnJzSj5eTrzvn_yLdwvtuKd-SBYQmIeWZooJ0xkMh/s1600/mudroom1.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="640" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb7oWqPDJOOohKlWIRRaUt85cyI6ndohyphenhyphenoXAx1Y6rQDOA8xN2fPm6fyBys58FbbzpE65h8R_8Qr05bYRAxK_-KQO9wOsHiwhynBvQWnJzSj5eTrzvn_yLdwvtuKd-SBYQmIeWZooJ0xkMh/s640/mudroom1.jpg" width="424" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This is the entrance to the mudroom. The door has frosted "plass". I say "plass" because it's definitely not glass, it's more like plastic, so plass works for me! But it hides the room well, especially considering that the room has terrible insulation so in the summer it gets ridiculously hot and in the winter it is freezing! And yes, that is a seriously old school door bell on the top left wall, which makes an awful sound so we unplugged it. I'm scared to take it down but it will happen soon. And the hole in the wall on the bottom left you ask? We will touch on that shortly...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuGxS61NnFREG7VrFZPNtlQq2cOO3xuXYK96NU7rP6xwGZWn0FNECSU3saoTOc8HtmFbmT54256N89xmKbB9Ha5FgmMl1EWw15BqySomhQVAQj0XDeciLzcFfjobUekP4KsG3HuPmG-BcU/s1600/DSC_0205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuGxS61NnFREG7VrFZPNtlQq2cOO3xuXYK96NU7rP6xwGZWn0FNECSU3saoTOc8HtmFbmT54256N89xmKbB9Ha5FgmMl1EWw15BqySomhQVAQj0XDeciLzcFfjobUekP4KsG3HuPmG-BcU/s640/DSC_0205.JPG" width="425" /></a></div><br />
Oh yea, a straight shot to our neighbors backyard :)<br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We've got shelves down the wall on the left, a hot water heater on the right, and a great side door. It would be a great room if it weren't so messy and dirty, and oh that hot water heater is <em>such</em> an eye sore. So I got approval to move forward with an overhaul of this unfinished space. What I did not realize was just how <em>unfinished</em> it actually was...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ElesxdAY6j8VgC1J3hqHkKY_gusMjNcmTRqyyB30dSmaF0wJPIfrdJ9SM5GWE_Gd6CE4mUfAayCOuDanRf0dQ3RhqyzfPA8GxnbPtI6oBKbHqxXC_RpbpvV2zhVKB-5DsD3EGHVnOocs/s1600/DSC_0216.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="424" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4ElesxdAY6j8VgC1J3hqHkKY_gusMjNcmTRqyyB30dSmaF0wJPIfrdJ9SM5GWE_Gd6CE4mUfAayCOuDanRf0dQ3RhqyzfPA8GxnbPtI6oBKbHqxXC_RpbpvV2zhVKB-5DsD3EGHVnOocs/s640/DSC_0216.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> When we took down the 4 shelves (which each had 3 brackets with 3 screws in each, totalling 36 screws!) the wall came off with them. Yup, that right there is drywall.. <em>awesome.</em><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqJxd5CSPkqbOXUNoblaHRWdS02VSMVZLK3p5vuDol0SdLsncRuQUFIPnXCdbslxK0nUP9YOThe_ejyVi8d1Tq-vTSDVJ0xY-bvJl1xl37dQVDdtABKYrG8Edm4LUGyPJgEKyX4TPgpNBX/s1600/DSC_0225.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="424" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqJxd5CSPkqbOXUNoblaHRWdS02VSMVZLK3p5vuDol0SdLsncRuQUFIPnXCdbslxK0nUP9YOThe_ejyVi8d1Tq-vTSDVJ0xY-bvJl1xl37dQVDdtABKYrG8Edm4LUGyPJgEKyX4TPgpNBX/s640/DSC_0225.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> Oh ya know just another hole in the wall! The previous owners must have had cats and the litter box must have resided in the handy little mudroom. Cats scare me, therefore these holes <em>must</em> go, they are totally creepy. You will also notice how the wall and floor don't quite meet. Next picture...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgowWGgZwtjmzw2Zk-y-WddGB8wGVAdbEdEnNiIdNwqmGnzm2y4jOvXmWNF5j38OUfv_tcvo0zFMQEyjDNpZ_EiMIN-gAjhM5JE-JthQIre-Xx7Mn8CqIth2yCvVZ9m-aWSyW3n7VlwEUKj/s1600/DSC_0227.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="424" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgowWGgZwtjmzw2Zk-y-WddGB8wGVAdbEdEnNiIdNwqmGnzm2y4jOvXmWNF5j38OUfv_tcvo0zFMQEyjDNpZ_EiMIN-gAjhM5JE-JthQIre-Xx7Mn8CqIth2yCvVZ9m-aWSyW3n7VlwEUKj/s640/DSC_0227.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">YES just what I always wanted! A completely uneven, sloping floor! Along with some unfinished cement trim. Woohoo! Oh and the floor, literally peeled up in a second. I wish I took a picture of that but I was too busy laughing at what I had gotten myself into. Underneath is just an uneven cement surface. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">There is a lot of work to do, but I am very determined! With a Home Depot trip, some supplies we already own, and of course help from my handsome live in handy man, we are going to make this room absolutely glorious! Here is a inspiration board I made before knowing what I was getting into:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTplzPw9O7gBZarv-IiY7kAk2hfytgiKdkuWCd09vqGNegDjMP7D4w3rd45slSbtR-J63FMf_2DIXbQPJh7c8QZ1GHblwhYI7HXfus66nFasoX7lFv2THnw4jWPzAQqk8ET4NDwCkaCPxZ/s1600/Mudroom+Inspiration.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTplzPw9O7gBZarv-IiY7kAk2hfytgiKdkuWCd09vqGNegDjMP7D4w3rd45slSbtR-J63FMf_2DIXbQPJh7c8QZ1GHblwhYI7HXfus66nFasoX7lFv2THnw4jWPzAQqk8ET4NDwCkaCPxZ/s640/Mudroom+Inspiration.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"> I'm going to paint the walls with neutral tone on tone stripes. I for some reason thought the walls were white so this was going to be super easy. Too bad they're baby blue; therefore I will be starting from scratch. I will be keeping the lowest shelf and the highest shelf. The lowest shelf will be a bench with a cushion that I, of course, will be making, as well as a fun pillow for a pop of color. The high shelf will be for storage which will be neatly placed in baskets. (<em>I hope</em>!) I will be making a curtain to hang over the window as well as another long curtain to hide the hot water heater. I actually went on a hunt for fabric this weekend in Philadelphia with a good friend of mine. I happened to stumble across the fabric that I have featured in my inspiration board above; sadly it was $65 per yard.. PER YARD! Are people insane!? I then stumbled upon the below fabric which was perfect:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7PRhHizEo6JzBMQ-P3mTDXUemybDGRYHMPDMxxeWs46zwGrTmWQua_CyI2wYbnnrl4hzcfjngzMdVnFk-Mw6EGgsRaWRT7scLryDZr6Oh_xWzbWrQaT4tJLkrs_BQxI2b7Ubqv2PISU9z/s1600/Braemore.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7PRhHizEo6JzBMQ-P3mTDXUemybDGRYHMPDMxxeWs46zwGrTmWQua_CyI2wYbnnrl4hzcfjngzMdVnFk-Mw6EGgsRaWRT7scLryDZr6Oh_xWzbWrQaT4tJLkrs_BQxI2b7Ubqv2PISU9z/s320/Braemore.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">It's by Braemore Fabrics and is called Joy in the color Pearl; which looks Grey here but is actually more of a Taupe color. I'm so excited to get sewing while my "handy man" levels out the floor and fixes the walls! Then on to painting stripes.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I hope everyone had as great and productive a weekend as I did!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

I think it brings in a fun yet sophisticated feel to a room; especially a bedroom. Our bedroom is quite small so I'm trying to add little details that will liven it up without closing it in and a headboard seems like a great addition! BUT I am back.. life got hectic and overwhelming, so I've decided I will be writing on Mondays and Wednesdays only. (For now)<br />
<br />
I may have disappeared on you but boy have I been busy! I have a quite a few projects to share with you all! Today I will share the wonderful cupcakes I made this past weekend, compliments of Martha of course! It was my sister's birthday as well as father's day so of course I used it as an excuse to try <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/338183/strawberry-cupcakes-with-strawberry-butt">these</a> mouth watering Strawberry Cupcakes! They were surprisingly really easy!<br />
<br />
<em>Cake Ingredients:</em><br />
-2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour<br />
-1/2 cup cake flour (not self-rising)**See below!<br />
-1 tablespoon baking powder<br />
-1 teaspoon salt<br />
-8 ounces (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened<br />
-2 1/4 cup sugar<br />
-3 large eggs<br />
-1 large egg white<br />
-1 cup whole milk<br />
-1 1/2 teaspoons pur vanilla extract<br />
-2 cups finely chopped strawberries (I left these out to make the cupcake a bit more simple)<br />
<br />
<em>Strawberry Buttercream Frosting Ingredients:</em><br />
-4 large egg whites<br />
-1 1/4 cups sugar<br />
-3/4 pound unsalted butter, softened, cut into small pieces (3 sticks)<br />
-1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries pureed<br />
<div class="item-list" sizcache="23" sizset="32"></div><br />
I must admit, however, they did not come out perfect because I made a few mistakes. I knew the minute I put the cupcakes in the oven something wasn't right. Well, for one I just realized writing this recipe for you that I totally missed the 1 egg white ingredient (whoops!). The evil <em>cake flour </em>is what had me baffled. I had never heard of it, never used it, went to the store and couldn't find it! So instead of being smart and googling what the heck it was, I figured I would just use all-purpose flour in it's place. Which wasn't the end of the world, until I realized I used way too much of it! It looked like I was making muffins rather than cupcakes! After I put them in the oven I turned to google and learned there is such a thing as cake flour. It's usually at the top shelf in the food store <em>above</em> the all-purpose flour. If you cannot find cake flour you can always use less all-purpose flour and a teaspoon of cornstarch. (I didn't try this obviously, but next time I will). I contemplated a re-do but decided to move on to the strawberry buttercream icing, because, well, if the icing tastes good who cares if there's a vanilla <em>muffin</em> underneath!<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, I made mistakes here too :( That softened butter.. yea, it was ice cold and hard. So I used logic, or so I thought!, and microwaved it for 30 seconds so it was soft. I found out later, when I resorted to google yet again after making <em>runny</em> strawberry buttercream icing, that you are NOT to microwave the butter. You really just need to let it sit. Strike 3! I let it sit in the fridge and crossed my fingers for thicker icing in a few hours. <br />
<br />
When all was said and done, the cupcakes weren't terrible, they were actually quite tasty! The actual cupcake tasted like a pound cake rather than a white crumbly cake I was going for, but it happens! At least they looked really pretty!<br />
<br />
Lessons learned, I will definitely be trying this one again soon!<br />
<br />

Shopping for warm weather clothes and shoes has come to a screaching hault as it is not so fun when you can't wear anything you buy! I have a few dresses hanging oh so nicely and new shoes lining the floors of my closet and now I am forced to play the waiting game. Cold weather always seems to last too long so last year the bf and I decided to come up with an idea that would lift our spirits. Instead of sulking and waiting, together we wrote a list of things we could do if it <em>were</em> nicer outside and we posted it on the refrigerator. It's funny how many things you think of when you can't seem to do any of them.. you always want what you can't have right?! </span><br />

I went to <a href="http://thehouseofcupcakes.com/home">House of Cupcakes</a> last weekend in Princeton, NJ. They won <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/cupcake-wars/index.html">Cupcake Wars</a> so I was dying to try it out. <em>Delicious!</em> I was a little bummed by the decor (or lack there of! they are apparantly under construction) but the actual cupcakes were amazing! Now I can't stop thinking about cupcakes.. and watching Cupcake Wars is not exactly helping :) </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">That said, on my to do list this coming weekend is to make cupcakes! </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I <em>love</em> to bake. I think that's why I love the holiday season so much, because there are so many events that give me a reason to bake. Martha Stewart is my go to lady.. her recipes are always reliable and, for the most part, reasonably simple.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Am I going to make all of these? No way, but aren't they awesome?! I think I might try out the sunflower cupcake (top left), they will go along perfectly with the fresh sunflowers that are currently in our kitchen!</span><br />

Okay, healthy is not the right word, but it can't be AS bad as a pie!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">I was craving a yummy dessert so I looked in the fridge and found some apples. I peeled them, sliced and diced and threw them in a pan with some water, sugar and cinnamon (yum!):</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyqmaVSwjdyA1G6CVxkY1XXFjbe0C_TDBX6B8Sq3vhMB1q7SJWiH6ipglTEgqHJsZ7D9ESilIM-K-27Ie9r2nRt6cG5LswOH7EIEimRnQnEzheovbYxMSXYHTPM62vG_wHw_r4RZc8DkPX/s1600/apples.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyqmaVSwjdyA1G6CVxkY1XXFjbe0C_TDBX6B8Sq3vhMB1q7SJWiH6ipglTEgqHJsZ7D9ESilIM-K-27Ie9r2nRt6cG5LswOH7EIEimRnQnEzheovbYxMSXYHTPM62vG_wHw_r4RZc8DkPX/s640/apples.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">I let them thicken (all while smelling delicious!) and then put them in a bowl to sit. In the meantime I ran to the store around the corner and bought some FroYo:</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbbUvb5NrH0kD_doW4BIrT_uMF48OD2O5qJvR7OPYyN-auhFLsNKrIILjYdwuM60m_hMlNyyxy9wDCjwJK1IWgNlIOkMAhetosJbKff7ASYCMVBOezYJf6auDAVq64USqaurJd7jsaJNk0/s1600/froyo1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbbUvb5NrH0kD_doW4BIrT_uMF48OD2O5qJvR7OPYyN-auhFLsNKrIILjYdwuM60m_hMlNyyxy9wDCjwJK1IWgNlIOkMAhetosJbKff7ASYCMVBOezYJf6auDAVq64USqaurJd7jsaJNk0/s640/froyo1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">This is by far the best frozen yogurt I've had. It tasted very close to regular ice cream. I scooped some in a bowl and topped it with warm apples and voila!:</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp1TVophyphenhyphengoJZWueUDVXYCIRpyir8jfgRpWm2F6Rrh50CeMJHsCOl-_sTtfqcRl9bPWdIDaJBwbSta6ebr8a5di8NMF8Ugr1VtueEl4JKTZCidUxWBypXDOZNF8OGUBhUIrDpM8IqeLR2v/s1600/applesfinal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjp1TVophyphenhyphengoJZWueUDVXYCIRpyir8jfgRpWm2F6Rrh50CeMJHsCOl-_sTtfqcRl9bPWdIDaJBwbSta6ebr8a5di8NMF8Ugr1VtueEl4JKTZCidUxWBypXDOZNF8OGUBhUIrDpM8IqeLR2v/s640/applesfinal.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now, let me make this clear, this is definitely not a substitute for a fresh out of the oven apple pie; but it killed the craving for at least a week :) Drooling yet?</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Wishing you all a <em>sweet, sweet Friday</em>!</span><br />

I've been on the search for pillows for a while but everytime I come across something perfect it has a not so perfect price tag. I figured I could do without the $90 pillows and probably make something just as nice myself. </span><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The two fabrics I purchased, as seen <a href="http://dancingstilettos.blogspot.com/2011/02/friday-friday-friday.html">here</a>, were the perfect choice because they aren't too feminine and they fit in perfectly with our color scheme. First thing's first, I had to learn how to sew! The bf's mom was nice enough to give me a quick lesson on her sewing machine and off I went! I first turned the fabric inside out, measured it to the size of my pillow inserts and pinned it like so:</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">After everything was pinned I used the sewing machine to <em>attempt</em> a straight line. It was surprisingly SO much easier than I originally thought it would be. As you can see in the below picture you can actually sew right over the pins!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIqvW-QU0CzP9Wky70WldUDDm2_URdtV9IwZucMfW2Z2uWaIHqvbV5Qex-GRbY85hpYAaALBsOusFfTioR-VV4qlWsT7VUJ4iYC-Cs9qFNh7W-Ta1C98WfZxGusjNCIec3pmlJtw2L8kcD/s1600/pillow2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIqvW-QU0CzP9Wky70WldUDDm2_URdtV9IwZucMfW2Z2uWaIHqvbV5Qex-GRbY85hpYAaALBsOusFfTioR-VV4qlWsT7VUJ4iYC-Cs9qFNh7W-Ta1C98WfZxGusjNCIec3pmlJtw2L8kcD/s400/pillow2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">After you have 3 sides done you flip it back to the patterned side and stuff the pillow into the case. You can sew part of the bottom before doing so and very carefully slip the pillow in. I chose to be super careful and sew the entire bottom of the pillow by hand:</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu8LkVNXtxcoLIMc_fGVeFZoV8NnWBW29y0HI1Hram4psZGgVV6v-hmSigpeUDkX15lg69lMSCYA2s-FCi-PQds0NNK298632ogme2pKGpK8jKFxDUXjDb7gwnE3Pvg5PI4dL5mCVwy2vu/s1600/pillow4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu8LkVNXtxcoLIMc_fGVeFZoV8NnWBW29y0HI1Hram4psZGgVV6v-hmSigpeUDkX15lg69lMSCYA2s-FCi-PQds0NNK298632ogme2pKGpK8jKFxDUXjDb7gwnE3Pvg5PI4dL5mCVwy2vu/s400/pillow4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">This was probably the most time consuming of the entire project but really didn't take too long. After 1 broken needle and a few do-overs, the finished result? VOILA!</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdH4t0bvakRnDqvZF97w79i35Ingyep00V3MXlzZ9ocEnLv2ta1yzriSkYCP_38XiNPd7pF2FUokV6INFkEwsFVYySiZZ7xdEZEFGasvpUbQXilxnzC0GWCrpJiCEUM3-moLr-txeC9iTq/s1600/pillowsfinal.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" r6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdH4t0bvakRnDqvZF97w79i35Ingyep00V3MXlzZ9ocEnLv2ta1yzriSkYCP_38XiNPd7pF2FUokV6INFkEwsFVYySiZZ7xdEZEFGasvpUbQXilxnzC0GWCrpJiCEUM3-moLr-txeC9iTq/s640/pillowsfinal.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Our 3 new additions! I love them and if I saw them in a store I would totally buy them! I recommend this project to anyone; it was honestly so fast and easy :) (A quick tip: If you really want to do this project on the cheap, pick a fabric you love and make the back on the pillow out of Burlap; at $3.99 a yard it's a sure way not to break the bank! And surprisingly it is SO in style right now)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Next project.. re-creating <a href="http://www.crateandbarrel.com/decorating-and-accessories/art/set-of-6-classical-symmetry-prints/s460412">these</a> awesome prints from Crate & Barrel for the living room:</span><br />

Stay tuned... ;)</span><br />

This winter has been a bit slow because I had no indoor space to shoot in and clearly it has been freezing outside! When I moved in with the bf not only did he offer up the walk-in closet (keeper!) he also told me I could use the second bedroom as a studio if I wanted to (keeper!). I finally decided to take him up on the offer and purchased a couple of studio lights. It's a very small space but it works for now! I was so excited when they came in the mail that I called my good friend Meredith and asked her to come test them out. The result:</span><br />

How to keep yourself looking and feeling fresh. Someone who feels good always looks good...</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnzk8gjD8Zx83Jjt2aKLWEidBK1wjWgXaCwtE5bXallT6s6a5uTVT2_qmcKRz8WOlSMwr3qJ0Fuxf6_1SLvvS-4msXlffbHM3fyXLKjWBSnfB3HXiWRLXg1_TfoOcW9Hprk2F2h07zR5TM/s1600/blog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" q6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnzk8gjD8Zx83Jjt2aKLWEidBK1wjWgXaCwtE5bXallT6s6a5uTVT2_qmcKRz8WOlSMwr3qJ0Fuxf6_1SLvvS-4msXlffbHM3fyXLKjWBSnfB3HXiWRLXg1_TfoOcW9Hprk2F2h07zR5TM/s640/blog.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">(Listed Clockwise from the top Left)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><strong>Garnier Triple Nutrition</strong>. Remember that Avocado I spoke about yesterday? You guessed it, it's a key ingredient in this line of Shampoo, Conditioner and Conditioning Treatment along with olive and shea oils. You can find this at any food store or drug store for usually around $5 each.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><strong>Chapstick</strong>. Did you know your lips can get sunburn? Painful? I think I'd rather be safe than sorry, what about you? There are a lot of chapstick's out there that don't have spf in them; then again, there are a lot that do. This is my go to beauty product, it has an spf 15 and is so moisturizing. And a major plus is it will only cost you about $1.. sometimes less! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><strong>Vaseline Total Moisture Lotion</strong>. I don't think I can say it enough; moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! This is a favorite of mine because it's healing and thick at first.. but it doesn't linger. It sets in and doesn't leave your hands feeling super greasy. The price tag is also refreshing. If you ever go into the lotion aisle in your local drug store you will notice everything is between $15 and $20. For lotion.. really? This bad boy is usually about $10 for the largest size and almost always on sale. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><strong>Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer-Oil Free</strong>. This product is a tad more pricey but technically it's makeup so that's okay, right? I use this as a foundation, it goes on smooth and evens out my skin tone perfectly. Not only is it a moisturizer but it's spf 20 which is great; your face is really sensitive so you always want to be wearing spf! This is sold at major department stores and is $42. It comes in a wide range of colors as well to match skin tone. (they also make a regular version if you don't like the oil-free option I use)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><strong>Marc by Marc Jacobs Oversized Sunglasses</strong>. An obvious Necessity. <a href="http://www.shopbop.com/crystal-rim-sunglasses-marc-by/vp/v=1/845524441871444.htm?folderID=2534374302029451&fm=other-shopbysize-viewall&colorId=16072">$98 Shopbop.com</a></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/nordstrom-2-tone-fedora/3129157?origin=coordinating-3129157-6025984-1-2"><strong>Nordstrom 2-Tone Fedora $32</strong></a></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><a href="http://www.shopbop.com/honey-sunhat-chain-eugenia-kim/vp/v=1/845524441890351.htm?folderID=2534374302062819&fm=other-shopbysize-viewall&colorId=12408"><strong>Eugenia Kim Hunny Sun Hat $275</strong></a></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Hats protect your face and hair; a sunburned scalp is torture! Prevent it with a hat :)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><strong>Clinique All About Eyes</strong>. Like I mentioned earlier, your face is very sensitive, your eyes? Even more sensitive and probably the first thing that is going to wrinkle..eek! Moisturize! Clinique makes this great eye cream thats lightweight and does the job perfectly. Retails for $47.50</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><strong>SkinCeuticals Emollience</strong>. I've shared this before and I will share again because I absolutely love it! $50 </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">I tend to switch between the above face cream and <strong>Clinique Moisture Surge. </strong>Moisture Surge is lightweight and refreshing. Retails for $34 for 1.7 oz and $47 for 2.5oz. It's worth it, I promise!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><span style="font-size: small;"><a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/nordstrom-photo-floral-square-silk-scarf/3161676?origin=category&resultback=446"><strong>Nordstrom 'Photo Floral' Square Silk Scarf </strong>$78</a>. Not only is this fashionable but it protects your hair and scalp. I started wearing scarves a lot to protect my hair color but now I wear them to protect my scalp as well. Lightweight and oh so cute!</span></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">I hope this helps!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">PS - tomorrow is Friday! woohoo! :)</span><br />

Not only is it time to get your body right for bathing suit season, it's time to refresh your look starting with your hair and skin. After a long, cold winter your hair and skin are begging to be spoiled! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Let's start here:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnwoWAQiOJdY-4FtZnwdyFRg70cEXaQEddWS0LpSUJ6cgafgWz-IoATWg-MFxgyjX4_HXCvkeIm6SbZNQFDQDzfN6uL3sYNF7_4XNhgK-BWnBea9P80762dydFg3YkQdAO85gMTLuuOsle/s1600/avacado.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img border="0" height="233" q6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnwoWAQiOJdY-4FtZnwdyFRg70cEXaQEddWS0LpSUJ6cgafgWz-IoATWg-MFxgyjX4_HXCvkeIm6SbZNQFDQDzfN6uL3sYNF7_4XNhgK-BWnBea9P80762dydFg3YkQdAO85gMTLuuOsle/s320/avacado.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">That's right; an avocado! <em>Amazing</em> for your hair. Some even say it makes your hair grow faster; we've all heard those myths; I won't lie I will be the first to test this theory out! In many parts of the world avocado is called the "poor man's oil". It contains Vitamins A, B, C and E which are great for curly, thick hair. Just mix 1 ripe avocado with 1 egg and olive oil and rub into your scalp. Ideally, you should let the mixture sit in your hair for about 30 minutes but I know we all don't have that time so 10 minutes is good too. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Next up?</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhweOfUQc5QzHHKPrqa9fKkXkW3ty9-U8qmaLnR9mSvYofopLRB1N4DGtIx2b9O7l7tp8zwrWes4aA257wKiY_iFqCKGhQar9ZiCsfB1-GOcoe6xAjnD0q0PsFDFbnhQ78V13KRiJBToqiI/s1600/banana.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img border="0" height="250" q6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhweOfUQc5QzHHKPrqa9fKkXkW3ty9-U8qmaLnR9mSvYofopLRB1N4DGtIx2b9O7l7tp8zwrWes4aA257wKiY_iFqCKGhQar9ZiCsfB1-GOcoe6xAjnD0q0PsFDFbnhQ78V13KRiJBToqiI/s320/banana.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Oh yes, we are going to use every fruit in the house! Bananas, like avocado's, are great for adding moisture to dry locks. How does a Banana Hair Smoothie sound? It <em>smell's</em> awfully good to me! For this wonderful concoction you will need:</span><br />
<ul><li><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">1 mashed banana</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">1 egg</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">3 tablespoons honey</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">3 tablespoons milk</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">5 tablespoons olive oil</span></li>
</ul><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Mix all the ingredients together and apply to hair. Again, try to let it sit for about 30 minutes. For more damaged hair it's best to let these masks sit a bit longer. Then rinse out and Shampoo and Condition as usual.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The next item we will be taking out of your refrigerator is:</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4zTNjk34oyIk3wh1R_5km1OuIt-Lk8YbaqE05eV4bTiIgWhPOrn5I_-OesuCIDR6u7BpIgGkBD60gH2t2DsplQgmwLwiROrQZ-W42TOB16aIPK8vtJi_Ptk3a2-D3XZ9WtZohyphenhyphenoA7UVBz/s1600/yogurt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><img border="0" q6="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4zTNjk34oyIk3wh1R_5km1OuIt-Lk8YbaqE05eV4bTiIgWhPOrn5I_-OesuCIDR6u7BpIgGkBD60gH2t2DsplQgmwLwiROrQZ-W42TOB16aIPK8vtJi_Ptk3a2-D3XZ9WtZohyphenhyphenoA7UVBz/s1600/yogurt.jpg" /></span></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #444444;">Yogurt is probably one of the most versatile ingredients I have come across. You can cook with it instead of using sour cream, heavy cream or buttermilk, you can make cheese with it, you can drink it (yogurt smoothie anyone?), you can add granola or fruit to it for a healthy snack, or just eat it alone. It's not only delicious but really healthy for you as well. Do you know what else it's healthy for? Your dry skin after a long winter! That's right, yogurt's antibacterial properties make it a useful, degerming cleanser, and its lactic-acid content soothes irritation, clarifies the pores and softens the skin. Finally, yogurt is known for its probiotics (live, active cultures), which are helpful in naturally treating skin conditions such as acne and eczema. <br />

All you do is apply the yogurt to your face and let it sit for about 20 minutes and then wash it off. If you have dry skin use a yogurt that is full fat as opposed to low-fat or fat free. If your skin is oily, use a low-fat or fat free option. </span></div><div style="background-color: transparent; border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; color: black; overflow: hidden; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"></span> </div><div style="background-color: transparent; border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; color: black; overflow: hidden; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;"><span style="color: #444444; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">If you did want to add another ingredient to the mask, for dry skin add a tablespoon of honey to the yogurt. So blah; nothing really catches your eye. Everything is the same drab color and the same drab style. I hate that! I am constantly on the search for something different. I hate looking like everyone else, I like to look and feel unique. So what's catching my eye currently? Laces! Bows! Patent Leather! Sequins! Shoes with laces, whether they be heels or flats, are so adorable. Bows and sequins really add a unique touch that is girly and feminine and I just love that. </span><br />
