Friday, Friday, Friday!

As you can see I am VERY excited it's Friday.  Here are a few things I am looking forward to:

The new ikat fabric I ordered from West Elm and Etsy to make my own pillows!  DIY post coming soon :)  (FYI I am aware that ikat is "out" but I'm still loving it!)

Date Night this weekend might have to consist of making mini versions of these burgers (sliders)  The beau and I always have fun cooking together!  The recipe is from Martha Stewart and can be found here.

The cozy fire I'll be sitting next to all weekend.  There is a plus to the cold weather!

In love with this facial moisturizer; it is sold at the salon I go to and it just makes me feel like I'm in a spa!  Can't wait to replenish after my facial this weekend :)
It can also be purchased on amazon.com here.

I've been in love with these bad boys for quite some time.  They are Miu Miu and can be found here in a similiar style.  They also retail at $690.  Yup you heard that right; craziness!  So clearly I have been on the hunt for something similiar for a fraction of the price.  Here is what I've found so far:
Image 1 of French Connection Jermaine Platform Heeled Loafers
These are very close and can be found here.  Unfortunately, they are still $206.20 which is still a bit expensive.  Looks like my search will continue.. shopping this weekend? An obvious given!
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Summer Escape

We were teased over in the Northeast last week; after the weather reached the low 70's now we have.. snow?  I did, however, keep my mind off the fact that I was freezing this weekend by escaping to summer via my iPod.  That's right!  I went through my current iTunes and came across some seriously fun music.  Not only did it keep me motivated at the gym but it put me in an instant good mood!  Here are a few to take you back to summer:

Summer Jam - Underdog Project
Zac Brown Band - Toes
David Tavare - Hot Summer Night
Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling

And I couldn't help but to throw this one in there because I am loving the beat!
Rihanna - S&M

If you're not into music you can always get lost in your screen saver... that's cool too ;)

Neutral Transition

Happy Friday everyone!  It has been quite a long week.  I don't know about all of you, but I am ready for some serious R&R this weekend.  The weather is beautiful today reaching a high of 66! Unfortunately, that will be decreasing this weekend bring the high temperature back down to the 40's. Sadness.  We were spoiled the past two days; 40 isn't that bad though, right?  Plus, I'm not quite ready to give up my boots yet!  Here are a few ideas to help you transition your wardrobe through the seasons:

Neutrals are huge for transitioning between the cold winter months into the nice spring weather; don't be scared of neutrals, always make sure they don't drown you out by adding little pops of color here and there!

1. Dolce Vita Jadie Long Sleeve Romper $264  This one is a bit on the expensive side; the key to finding a good romper is making sure it's versatile.  In winter you can pair tights and a long sweater with boots and in Spring/Summer you can wear as is with, of course, an awesome pair of stilettos!
2. Cheap Monday Kenza Top $85
3. Aryn K. Stripe Blazer $94 Obsessed with Stripes!
4. ASOS Vintage Boyfriend Jean $62.76 Extremely comfortable and great with flats or heels!
5. Anthropologie Femme Trench Jacket $188
6. J.Crew Pom Pom Ballet Flats $198
7. Pierre Dumas Esther-2 $55
8. White House|Black Market Patent Skinny Bow Belt $38
9. Banana Republic Color Block Market Tote $120 (currently on sale for $98)
10. Anthropologie Jeweler's Choice Cardigan $148

Have a great weekend!

Craving Cupcakes

I love to bake and cook.  I typically try to find recipes that are semi-healthy but it gets a bit difficult when you want to bake something absolutely delicious!  I found this recipe for Lemon Meringue Cupcakes on Martha Stewart's website and I had to try them out.  Lemon meringue pie is such a weakness for me; I am known to leave diners with a slice to go!  I decided what better time to make them than my Mom and Sister's birthdays so the whole fam could try them out.  Here's how they turned out:

My favorite Kate Spade Plate that I found at TJ Maxx!

So delicious and everything was made from scratch!  You can find the recipe here if you'd like to take a stab at it!

Spring Fever

I know, I know, I have been totally MIA.  I was in San Francisco last week for business; a girls gotta make money somehow to fill her closet right!?  As much as I like traveling; traveling for business can be a bit tiring.  The plus side?  Being in warmer weather!  It really made me long for Spring.  I can't help but to look at the new styles coming out for Spring/Summer even though I can't wear them for a couple of months at least.  I am LOVING the long skirts, wide legs pants, high rise everything and cropped tops; very bohemian and pretty; not to mention flattering for every figure.  As much as i love my combat/moto boots; they're a bit on the tough side; the pretty fabrics and colors are so refreshing.  Here are some of my favorites:

Zara Studio Culottes $99.90

Free People VNeck Crop Top $48
Free People Love Birds Maxi Dress $198

Free People Wrapped in Pleats Skirt $168

Marc by Marc Jacobs Iris Knit Shorts $158

ASOS Ruffle Front Cropped Blouse $53.79

ASOS Jersey Palazzo Pants $44.83

and of course... happy valentines day!

Aren't you lovely...

Valentine's Day is right around the corner; I know what you're thinking.. UGH.  I've noticed that over time Valentine's Day has kind of lost it's meaning.  It is supposed to be a day to celebrate love.  What has it become?  A competition!  Who's significant other bought them the best gift.  GIFT?!  I personally don't think gifts are even necessary on Valentine's Day; technically if you are in a relationship, everyday should be great, you shouldn't need a designated day for this.  That said, I challenge you to look at Valentine's Day in a different light this year.  Do something for yourself; it is a girls holiday afterall!  You're worth it right?  Go buy yourself flowers, a little present, get dressed up and celebrate yourself.  As quoted above the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself.

Tory Burch Paper Weight $48
I adore this paperweight; a great accessory to spice up your workspace and remind yourself how great YOU are.

Work it Girl!

Part of Operation Happy involves going to the gym at least 3 times a week.  A little release of endorphins can go a long way for this girl!  Anyone who knows me well, knows that new hobbies=new wardrobe :)  I've been pretty good about keeping the workout clothes on a budget.  The key is finding cheap chic workout gear that doesn't break the bank.  Afterall, you have to keep motivated somehow!  My favorite stores for workout apparel are Victoria's Secret and Target.

Pants are probably the hardest thing for me to find because I'm short. (Did you know the average height for a female in the USA is 5 foot 4 inches.  So technically I'm not that short)  I also like a more fitted pant because the wide leg pants tend to get in the way when running etc.

Target C9 by Champion $24.99

Victoria's Secret Yoga Classic Pant $29.50

These also come in a full length legging for $29.50 and you can actually choose between a 21" 29" and 32" inseam!

For tops I like these as they come in every color imaginable and are super comfy, not to mention only $7.49!:

Target C9 by Champion Long & Lean Tank

And last but not least; a jacket for running outside:
Target C9 by Champion Cold Weather Pullover $19.99

Loving the sleeve detail
Target C9 by Champion Women's Cardio Jacket $24.99
Everyday is a fashion show, no matter where you are going, make sure you dress the part, you never know who you will meet!
